Böëna Costa Rica

September and October are the peak season on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast. The weather is drier, the wildlife is thriving, the rivers & surfing are fantastic, and the coral reefs are bathed in crystal-clear Caribbean waters.

What’s more, these two months coincide with the country’s Green Season, which means discounted rates on BÖËNA’s unforgettable experience.

True to its trademark, BÖËNA’s Ultimate Caribbean Discovery holiday combines two of the country’s most remote and utterly remarkable destinations: the mystical watery canals and world-renowned national park of Tortuguero; and the exquisite rainforest sanctuary, Pacuare Lodge, on the banks of the mighty Pacuare River.

But what is a vacation on Costa Rica’s pristine Caribbean Coast without visiting its white-sand beaches and experiencing its vibrant Afro-Caribbean vibe and Creole cuisine? Add a three-day sojourn in Puerto Viejo, the heart and soul of the South Caribbean, where your award-winning boutique hotel, warm turquoise waters, fabulous wildlife, unforgettable dining, and dazzling nightlife await.

This is a first-class immersion into BOENA’s spectacular Caribbean side.

The excitement continues on your fourth day in Costa Rica. Rise to a majestic morning on the banks of Tortuguero Canal before another awe-inspiring boat voyage to the river dock, where a comfortable 4WD SUV will be waiting. The drive winds into the lush Talamanca Mountains, home of the indigenous Cabecar who’ve inhabited its vast forests for centuries. Your destination is the famed Pacuare Lodge on the banks of the pristine Pacuare River, hailed as one of the world's most scenic stretches of white-water rapids. Upon arrival, a cornucopia of experiences awaits. Relax in the exorbitant luxury of your rainforest suite, swim in the rainforest infinity pool, or lavish yourself in a Cabecar-inspired riverside spa treatment. The following two days will be filled with a plethora of activities in the rainforest before, at last, enjoying a thrilling whitewater adventure over Pacuare’s Class III-IV rapids.

South Caribbean Paradise (optional)

Welcome to Pura Vida exemplified. At takeout from the Pacuare River, your final destination is the postcard-perfect South Caribbean coastline. Once a sleepy fishing village, Puerto Viejo today is a vibrant surfside beach town steeped in a mecca of international and Afro-Caribbean cultures, each delivering a colorful assortment of funky artisanal shops, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.
